There’s something about a royal blue teamed with a golden gold that makes me go weak at the knees around Autumn time. I think the combination of the rich undertones of the navy compliment the sparkling gold perfectly to create an unusual combination of Autumn shades without the typical plum or grey to be seen. I love as it as an alternative when i’ve had enough of plummy nails. I picked up this Sephora Formula X polish in Orbit in New York, because it was a bit different to shades i’d seen on the UK high street, and they’re pretty decently priced for Sephora.
I used a little nail art brush that I had to dip into the luxe mini sparkles of the Michael Kors gold, to make some kinda ‘shield’ inspired, family crest, royal style patterns, which are actually pretty easy to do. I was in love with the little rose gold pieces in the Barry M Treasure Chest, so used that as a statement nail for the middle, and just worked with almost masonic style straight lines and triangles for that old worlde vibe.
Dip your nail polish in and use three points to make straight lines, so for the middle nail, I did two dots at the bottom of the nail, then one further up in the middle before joining them to make the triangle. This makes it a lot easier to get triangles as neat as possible when doing by hand and if you’re a bit wobbly like me! Dots are super easy to do, so I did a little three dot combo on my pinky, as I don’t have a lot of room for design there.
Finished the whole look with the Barry M Matte Topcoat because I think there’s something even more luxe gorge about matte in Autumn too, and I love a combination of a dark matte background with soft sparkles adorned on the top.
And there you go! Pretty easy, royal inspired rich blue and gold nails. What do you think of my design?
