Hevy Festival

P H O T O G R A P H Y: George Rockett

Last weekend was Hevy Festival over in Kent, and the line up was an absolute storm. George and I couldn’t wait to head down and even though i’d just landed off a plane from Ibiza, I was absolutely thrilled to be on the small Port Lympne to see this line up with my own eyes.
Why was I so excited you ask? Well, one of my all time favourite bands was returning from a hiatus to headline the festival. Thrice are one of the late 90s/early 00s post-hardcore bands/alt rock bands that helped shape the genre and carve the path for those to follow. They absolutely tipped my little music world upside down upon hearing their songs for the first time back in 2003 or so, and i’ve loved them ever since. When they split I was devastated, as I never got tickets for one of their last tours – not knowing it would be the last time they would play. Or, so I thought.

There was also the return of another great melodic post-hardcore band The Fall of Troy. Back in 2005 they released an incredible album titled Doppelganger, and here, a mere ten years later at Hevy fest, they played it in full to an adoring crowd. Absolutely everyone was collectively losing their minds in the pit and the crowd were not only awesome but it was a total pleasure to be a part of that moment. I’ll never forget it.
We also saw As It Is and Fort Hope (who are playing in the background of these photos) and they were both brilliant, full of such promise and potential for the future. Definitely two great bands to keep your eye on. I did a Band Does My Makeup video with As It Is, which will be live on my channel any time soon today.
I wore my floaty bell-sleeve ASOS long sleeve top for that Fleetwood-esque vibes, tied in with my fave American Apparel shorts that even after a years worth of wear, still look brand new. Such a good investment piece. How my hair is here is like my perfect dreamy pastel fade, but it really doesn’t stay like this for long at all and it’s such high maintenance that to be honest it wont stay like this any longer so these will probably be the last photo set with this hair (unless I find any I forgot about!) I’m planning on changing it up today ready for Reading Festival at the weekend, so keep an eye on my social channels for more updates!
Anyway, I had the best time at Hevy Festival and I’ll definitely return in future. Did you go? What do you think of Thrice/The Fall of Troy and my festival outfit?
