JUST A FEW BEATS AND TUNES TO GET YOU THROUGH TODAY TO THE WEEKEND!

It’s been ages since I did a Monday Playlist and generally talked about some music that i’ve been listening to recently, so I thought i’d share with you instead a Friday playlist for your enjoyment before the weekend! It’s mostly dance/house/electro vibes… i’ll gladly do more of a rock/indie style one if request is there, but when i’m working at home in the day I usually like to pop on this kind of chill/dance stuff!

I had to start the playlist with this massive banger from Duke Dumont, which was released earlier this Summer but still hasn’t got boring. It’s got some killer vocals from Yolanda Quartley who actually goes uncredited on the track (naughty Duke) but has this amazing old school 80s Haddaway vibe about her. Love it.

The playlist also features an old favourite album track from CHVRCHES that they played live at Reading and made me probably realise it was my favourite from their album – too good not to include! There’s also a track from La Roux’s new album, and while it’s not the signature single, the simplicity of Sexotheque to me is bangin’, and I think it deserves a lot more credit than it’s getting. Phantogram are also a new discovery to my radar last month, and they’re a very Purity Ring reminiscent electronic duo. My fave Grimes track, too, of course, as well as an old school fave from cutie pie Chloe Howl.

Casually threw a Die Antwoord number in there, it’s probably the least offensive off their latest album Donker Mag, if you’re easily offended I wouldn’t watch the video or listen to the rest of their tracks… but i’m a little bit obsessed with them (controversial or not, I think they’re flippin’ genius) and it’s very often played on my Spotify. The Drake song might be a bit of a random inclusion, but the two poppy top 40 songs on there – Drake into Iggy – are two of my most played ‘pop’ songs on my mix right now. I’ve also started slipping Black Widow into my DJ set, it’s good fun. Iggy has totally smashed it recently… i’m not sold on her still due to many reasons but you can’t deny a good tune when you hear it.

Few more dancier tracks to end the playlist including my new fave gal Catcall should get you up and raving off your office chair! The last track is one of my absolute favourite groove dance tracks – from Chromeo. If you don’t shake your bones to this… something is up!

Enjoy the playlist and happy Friday! I need to do more music playlists, I really enjoy putting them together and sharing them, so do let me know if you enjoy these music posts! Contrary to what I look like I play, when I DJ I mostly play hip hop and old school garage/r n b, so if you’re in for a bit of that… let me know! Regulaaaaaaate!
