So festival fashion is all well and good…. until it starts raining. Coachella and the every year ‘birth’ of the festival style movement is obviously never affected by this, so there’s always pressure to dress a certain way or fit into a certain style when well, in England it’s just not doable. This year Download was nicknamed ‘Drownload’ as it became a bit of a muddy wash and so any sort of style anyone was planning had to go right out of the window.
These photos were taken on the Sunday which was a dry day – if you look at my instagram you can see I was wrapped up in a wet weather poncho the rest of the time but luckily on Sunday I could ditch it for my vintage fringed suede jacket. Which is totally still my favourite item of clothing, btw. It’s a proper 70s vintage jacket I rescued from the bottom of a bucket in Bethnal Green and I just love it. It’s really heavy and sits on the shoulders with weight so it does keep me really warm.
Underneath I layered George’s H&M shirt just because boys shirts always look better don’t they? It’s kind of a fleecy material shirt too so it added another layer, as underneath I was wearing my old Drop Dead You Suck tee, which i’m sad to say isn’t available anymore – sorry!
This was the first time i’d ever worn my Hunter Welly Boots which I got from them about two years ago – sorry for the timely content here Hunter! They were actually incredible, so comfortable and an actual joy to wear – I totally get all the hype over them now. They’re firmly tucked away ready probably for their next outing at another UK festival this Summer! Well, ‘Summer.’
So the actual details on Download is coming later this week, along with my video upload. We were so grateful to have a photopass this time round for George – honestly you should have SEEN his little face light up with absolute joy – so the footage we have is killer, and I can’t wait to give you all the goss on the bands I saw (hello Slipknot) alongside the visuals later this week. Stay tuned for that!
How do you dress in the wet festival weather? I gave up entirely on any attempt at looking stylish, so this is a pretty ‘real’ representation of the sogginess the festival was!!
