I think one of my biggest pet hates about painting my nails (aside from the smell, ugh) is how long it takes for nail polish to dry. Oh man. If you’re anything like me i’m sure you’ve woken up with sheet ‘imprints’ in your nails before rushing to do them before bed, or smushed them down the top of the nail pulling some tights off after thinking they’re dry, am I right? So I generally think Barry M polishes aren’t too bad with their drying time anyway, but they’ve now gone ahead and are about to launch a brand new Speedy Quick Dry range.
There’s nine shades in total and as you can see from the names they’ve definitely run with the whole car racing theme! The bottle lids are adorned with a checkerboard print, too. They’re cute and eye catching – I think they’ll definitely stand out on the shelves in the high street!

So I do actually like pretty much all the shades but i’ve pulled out my three favourites above which are from left to right – Road Rage, Lap Of Honour and Pit Stop. I decided to put Road Rage all over my nails for now and it is gorgeous. They’re all pastel based anyway so do pop on the nail, and they seem to coat the nail pretty well in two coats, although I think the pink shade – Kiss Me Quick – probably needed three as it was a bit streakier on my nail wheel than the rest.
Now, the verdict on whether I think they do dry quicker? I do think marginally, yes. What swung it for me was that often when I pop my top coat on it can drag a bit of the colour up with it onto the brush and these didn’t do that. I don’t think they’re massively groundbreaking and I don’t want to sit here and say ‘these are the best most quickest drying polishes ever!’ because I don’t think they are. I’d still set aside my usual nail drying time for these just incase, but I do think they did get touch dry and then bone dry a bit quicker than normal. However, I think the key is to applying fairly thin even coats that layer up nicely and don’t get too lumpy or thick. I didn’t experience any smoosh-ing or imprints so i’m happy! They also lasted for the same amount of time as my other Barry M paints, about two days before chips appeared.
At the end of the day with all Barry M polishes they are so affordable and these ones will retail at £3.99 each. They’re in Superdrug from 11th Feb and Boots 18th Feb. Will you be picking these up? Even if you’re not into the quick drying element they’re still gorgeous pastel shades for Spring!
Which one have you got your eye on?
