The Teddy Coat.
Photos by Amy Valentine, words by Zoe London.
I saw Kim Kardashian wore a teddy coat, so I wore a teddy coat. Okay, not really, more of Mean Girls Cady Heron army pants and flip flops reference there. But the humble teddy coat did have some what of a small revival over winter, with the bitter brisk cold air forcing those heading out into the weather face first to wrap up warm. And what better way to do so, than snuggled in a warm, teddy bear coat?

I wore this to day one of Fashion Week this season, as I knew it was going to be chilly. I’ve teamed my teddy coat with this long sleeve Missguided black ‘scuba’ looking dress, made from a thick ribbed material, and with a raw cut neckline.
Something about this coat feels very 70s to me.
I know it’s not the traditional seventies sheepskin coat, but there’s something about that warm, burnt orange tone in a coat that gives off that Penny Lane vibe. Seventies was such a huge trend last year and it doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon, with the high street – and the catwalks – still choc a bloc with the decades influences. While the Teddy coat isn’t strictly a huge part of the trend, in this colour way, it can be.
I nabbed Amy Valentine for a quick snap or two while we were all hanging out at The Apartment, the fashion week lounge of choice. It’s warm yet practical feel makes it feel homely, welcoming but still full of everything a blogger needs during fashion week. I love it in there and I think Abi has outdone herself (and those standards were already pretty high) this season.
It was cold, and wet, but I quite like the British feel to this photoset.
I’m still so in love with my denim hair by Adam Reed, but more on that later.
I think blue hair can be a little tricky to navigate colour wise against your wardrobe, but there are times when a good clash is super fun. I think this example of my bold blue hair against the warm almost terracotta tone of the teddy coat is a great one, too. By keeping the rest of my outfit black – although those tiny little buckles on the shoes in the bronze colourway are a nice nod to the coat – it makes a statement coat the perfect thing not only to wear to fashion week, but on a daily basis.
What do you think of the teddy coat? Will you be adding one to your late Winter wardrobe? I love mine! Let me know in the comments.
