DRESS: OH MY LOVE
I think this has to be one of the most simple outfits i’ve ever shot for my blog, but also one of my favourites. Sometimes with the right frames, the most simplest of outfits can seem far dressier than they are. And by that I mean simply the way you carry yourself and embody the style you desire.
I’d had my eye on this dress from Oh My Love for a while, and I finally just decided to buy it even though I genuinely do own a million similar velvet dresses (why do we do that?) but I just couldn’t resist the 1920’s style neckline and delicate beading detail. Gorgeously gothic. It’s a little bit big on me but I think i’m just getting away with it!
We needed the perfect location to offset the simple dress and so we swung by our friends pub Aces and Eights in Tufnell Park. I’ve actually blogged about this place before here, but this is the kinda secret speakeasy style downstairs part that not everyone knows exists. As you go down the stairs they gradually disintegrate more, and the lights turn from starkly punk to dimly lit lamps, and candles begin to path the way. They have a lot of comedy on down here actually and it’s just the most perfect setting for it, as it’s tiny capacity holds for an intimate, old school London style evening.
It’s harder to shoot indoors than out and it’s something George and I are trying to perfect at the minute, so I hope you enjoyed this slightly different outfit post from us. Let us know what you thought of the idea and art direction in the comments and if you’d like to see more in this style.
