When Autumn rolls around, most nail polish’ default action is to switch from brights, to dark reds and deep red shades. I get it, it’s the colour of the leaves, the sun setting earlier and the general vibe and associated colour. This year for autumn/winter, Barry M are rolling out three new shades to their ever popular affordable standard Nail Paint line, but they’re not the usual autumn offering. I spoke about the Barry M Gelly range Autumn offering in this post here, so check swatches of that out there.
Focussing on pink as the undertone for the three new shades, it sees a dusky, vintage pink called Ballerina make the palest shade of the three, and I think it’s absolutely stunning. It reminds me a fair bit of the vintage nails seen at Bora Aksu AW13 fashion week, which I blogged about here. Perfect.
The middle shade and the one i’ve adorned my nails with is called Vintage Violet and from the minute I saw it, I knew I wanted it on. It’s a dark plummy purple, leaning towards the bluer/pinker end of the purple spectrum rather than the traditional autumn reds, and to me it feels far more luxe than Barry M.
The darkest shade is a proper midnight purple, almost black toned but with purple flickering in the light, called Nightshade. I love this one, but it’s pretty gothic and i’m not quite ready for that yet – i’m going to pop this one by for later in the Winter when the temperature has dropped.
So these three cuties will launch for Barry M on October 1st and will, as always, cost a mere £2.99. I honestly think Barry M’s polishes are some of the best out there, let alone on the high street. I adore them! What do you think of these shades?
